Description
Dedicated runners who have been pounding the Peak District for 15 years have helped raise over £100,000 for good causes.

Eyam Half Marathon, which has attracted hundreds of super-fit runners to the Peak District each May, has made donations to cancer charities and community groups over the 15 years it has been run.

Half marathon committee chairman Steve Brown said:

"Each year, so many people give their time to make this event happen, as well as supporting us in a range of other fund-raising events. I am so incredibly proud we have reached the £100,000 milestone."

He added: "This is a truly fantastic achievement for us as a group and for the village. The thing that never ceases to amaze me is the generosity and support of the people of Eyam and the surrounding villages."

Village

Around half the money raised each year is given to St Luke's Hospice and Weston Park Hospital, in Sheffield, and to Ashgate Hospice, in Chesterfield. The remainder is distributed among village organisations.

Rachel Thorpe, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity director, said: "We are extremely grateful for the generosity of each and every single person who has been involved in the race's 15-year history, helping to support research and improve cancer treatment and care."

The challenging course involves more than 1,200 feet of ascent
